DIY Halloween Costumes

Make this autumn season memorable at our luxury apartments in Miami. Prepare for Halloween by making a DIY costume at The Park at Kendall. Here are a few ideas for your new costume.

#1 Tourist

This costume is fun and easy since you most likely have most of what you need in the closet already. Simply grab a Hawaiian buttoned down shirt, a simple “point and shoot” camera with a strap to hang around your neck, a lei, and maybe even a straw hat. If you don’t have these items, you can always peruse your local thrift store.

#2 Nerd

Another Halloween costume that can be acquired from Goodwill is the famous nerd costume. Purchase some high waisted ill-fitting kakis, a button-down oxford shirt, and some suspenders for an economical price at a thrift store. Make sure to grab some sunglasses, pop out the lenses, and wrap some tape around the bridge of the glasses to really embrace the nerd costume.

#3 Cactus

Cacti are the trendy home plant of the year! So, why not be a cactus for Halloween? This costume does not even require sewing. Simply purchase a large-knit green sweater, a few fake flowers, and some white pipe cleaners. Pull pipe cleaners through the gaps in the knit. Twist the pipe cleaners at the ends to create the cactus’ spikes. Affix a couple fake flowers on a headband with a glue gun for the cactus’ bloom.

#4 Waldo

If you’re really in a time crunch, try being Waldo of “Where’s Waldo” for Halloween. This iconic character is easy to pull off and completely recognizable. Waldo’s attire is casual, so you can wear jeans and comfy shoes. The only thing you will need is a red and white striped long sleeve shirt, a red and white beanie, and glasses.
