#1 National Parks
Miami is home to two major National Parks – Everglades National Park and Biscayne National Park.
Everglades National Park covers 1.5 million acres on the southern section of the Lake Okeechobee watershed. These wetlands have native wildlife like the leatherback turtle and the Florida panther. This park is also great for hiking, biking, camping, fishing, and boating.
Biscayne National Park is the largest marine park that is a part of the National Park Service. This includes southern Biscayne Bay and its coral reefs. Biscayne National Park can be explored by snorkeling, diving, kayaking, canoeing, or boating.
#2 Botanical Gardens
Fairchild Tropical Botanic Gardens is a one-of-a-kind botanic garden featuring tropical plants like mango, palm trees, and vines. There are many exhibits and displays around the gardens.
The Miami Beach Botanical Garden is an intimate garden that covers 3 acres in the middle of South Beach. The abundance of native species of plants creates a serene ambiance in an urban area.
Pinecrest Gardens is on the National Registry of Historic Places in the village of Pinecrest. It encompasses botanical gardens, butterfly exhibits, a petting zoo, and a water playground. There is even an amphitheater that regularly host live performances.
